news and blog - Tom Fitzgerald
I'm a 56 year old body surfer and I started using the Wave blades about two years ago. Since that time
I've won the Manhattan Beach bodysurfing contest, master's division. I've made it to the semi-finals of the
World Championship in Oceanside, 1997. I attribute my success to my using the Wave Blades as an
alternative to straight bodysurfing.
The Wave Blades can make small waves ridable and large waves, 5 to 12 footers, makable. The extra
speed you gain with the blades can generate you through a tube section in order to get to the shoulder
section of the wave. Also you can hold your position high on the face of a steep face wave by back sliding
and using the edge or rail of your blade instead of the flat surface.
Other advantages of the Wave Blades are
{1} Swimming, you have more power in your stroke which enables you to swim out faster and catch
waves easier.
{2} Kicking out of a large wave and coming out the back end, and by throwing arms out you can cup water
with your blades so you're not sucked back into the white water of the wave.
{3} Under water take offs are very easy with wave blade because of the flat surface they create in front of
you.
{4} Spinners are also easier because the flat surface you have on the blade propels you at a faster rate of
speed. These are some of the reasons I've enjoyed using the WAVE BLADES.
I've taken my blades out in 2 to 3 foot surf and up to 10 to 12 foot surf from Manhattan Beach to Puerto
Escondido, Mexico. I would highly recommend the WAVE BLADES as a product that can be enjoyed by all
water enthusiasts.
Sincerely,
